A simple, cheap accessory that solves several real problems at once. The Split Cable Hook Stopper sits on your winch cable just behind the hook. When you retract the line, it stops the hook before it slams into the fairlead — protecting both the rollers and the winch motor from being pulled in too far and bottoming out.

It also keeps tension on the hook so it doesn’t bounce around or fall loose, eliminates hook clatter when you’re going down the trail, and acts as an anti-kickback device if a steel cable were to snap under load. Already included in every KFI Assault Series winch box (AS-25 through AS-50w), but worth picking up as a spare or as the missing piece on a U-series or non-KFI winch setup.
